What happened
The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenants due to their failure to meet a condition specified in a previous order issued by the LTB. The tenants failed to pay $1,000 towards the outstanding arrears by the due date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 9, 2023. The tenants must pay the landlord $6,159.28 (less any payments made after the application was filed on March 8, 2023) for rent arrears up to April 28, 2023, and $29.26 per day for compensation for the use of the unit starting April 29, 2023 until the tenants move out. If the full amount is not paid by May 9, 2023, the tenants will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
