What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 regarding water and mould issues in the rental unit. The issues were ongoing and not resolved prior to the Tenant moving out.

The ruling

The Landlord shall pay the Tenant $400 for rent abatement and $48 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $448, by March 7, 2025. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by the due date, the Landlord will owe interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
