What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 regarding a closet door in the children's bedroom. The Tenants informed the Landlord about the issue in December 2020 and July 2021, but the Landlord did not fix the door.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to repair the closet door by October 15, 2023. The Landlord is also ordered to pay the Tenant $179.22 for a rent abatement and $53 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $232.22, by October 6, 2023. If the Landlord does not pay by the due date, the Tenant may deduct the amount from future rent payments.
