What happened

Tenant 1 requested a review of an order dated August 19, 2025, which terminated the tenancy for non-payment of rent. Tenant 1 claimed he was unable to attend the original hearing on July 8, 2025, because he was providing care to his mother. The Landlord and Tenant Board conducted a preliminary review without a hearing to determine if a full review was warranted.

The ruling

The request to review the original order (LTB-L-032463-25) is denied. The Board found that the tenants were not diligent in attempting to participate in or reschedule the hearing. Consequently, the original order terminating the tenancy and evicting the tenants for non-payment of rent remains in full force and effect.
