What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant because the Landlord believes that the Tenant abandoned the unit. The Tenant has not paid rent since December 1, 2022 and has not returned to the unit since being arrested on December 2, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of January 30, 2023. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $1,764.00, which includes rent arrears from December 2, 2022 to January 30, 2023, and the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by May 2, 2023, they will owe interest at 6% annually on the outstanding balance.
