What happened
The Tenants filed applications against the Landlord regarding illegal money collection, illegal entry, interference, and maintenance issues. The tenancy had already been terminated by a prior order effective April 22, 2025, following a fire. The current landlord, Ambria Homes Inc, took over after a purchase agreement with the previous owners was cancelled. The Tenants sought compensation for expenses incurred after the tenancy ended, which the Board determined it could not award. The parties reached a consent agreement during the hearing for the Landlord to dispose of the Tenants' remaining items and provide a fire report for their insurance claim.
The ruling
By consent of both parties, the Landlord is authorized to dispose of the Tenants' remaining household contents. The Landlord is ordered to provide the Tenants with a copy of the Toronto Fire Services report regarding the fire of April 14, 2025. The Tenants' applications for financial remedies were dismissed as the Board lacks jurisdiction to award compensation for costs incurred after the tenancy was terminated. The interim order issued on May 15, 2025, is cancelled.
