What happened
The Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants due to substantial rent arrears. The Tenants, who are currently facing financial hardship due to unemployment, requested more time to secure funds or relocate. The Landlord sought payment of arrears and possession of the unit, citing financial difficulties of their own in maintaining the rental complex.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective July 31, 2025, unless the Tenants void the order by paying the specified amounts. If the Tenants do not void the order, they must move out by July 31, 2025, and pay the Landlord $5,224.17, which accounts for arrears up to the hearing date minus the rent deposit and interest, plus daily compensation of $69.86 from June 18, 2025, until they vacate.
