What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Landlord had previously obtained an order terminating the tenancy on March 31, 2023, and was now seeking an order for the rent arrears and costs only.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $24,571.71, which includes rent arrears and the cost of filing the application, minus the rent deposit and interest owed to the Tenant. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $65.59 per day in compensation for use of the unit starting May 9, 2023 until the Tenant moves out.
