What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to rent arrears. By the date of the hearing, the Tenant had paid nearly all arrears, leaving only a negligible balance. The Tenant disputed the application costs, claiming administrative errors in payment processing by the Landlord, but did not provide documentary proof. The Board granted relief from eviction but ordered the Tenant to pay the remaining balance and the application filing fee.
The ruling
The application to terminate the tenancy is denied. The Tenant is granted relief from eviction on the condition of paying the remaining $3.16 in arrears and the $186.00 application fee, totaling $189.16, by August 17, 2025. Failure to pay will result in simple interest at 4.00% per annum starting August 18, 2025.
