What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants for non-payment of rent. The Tenants attended the hearing and contested the amount of arrears. The Board denied the Tenants' request for relief from eviction, citing that the Landlord already had a separate eviction order from an L3 application with a scheduled Sheriff enforcement, and that support organizations were unwilling to assist the Tenants, making it unlikely they could pay the arrears.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated unless the Tenants pay a total of $9,816.00 by June 16, 2025. If they fail to make this payment, they must vacate the rental unit by that date. If the tenancy is terminated, the Tenants must pay the Landlord $4,593.54 for arrears up to the hearing date, plus daily compensation of $59.18 from April 4, 2025, until they move out.
