What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to substantial interference with the reasonable enjoyment or lawful right, privilege or interest of the Landlord or another tenant, and for wilfully or negligently causing damage to the premises. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $2,492.82 in unpaid utility charges, with $1,500 due by June 20, 2023, $100 per month from July 2023 to March 2024, and the remaining $92.82 by April 1, 2024. The Tenant shall also continue to pay 30% of the utility charges going forward. If the Tenant fails to make the payments as ordered, the Landlord can apply to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant.
