What happened
The Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant because the Tenant committed an illegal act by assaulting another resident with a metal pole, and the Tenant or another occupant seriously impaired the safety of others by removing the smoke detector in the rental unit.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective December 12, 2023. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $1,241.64, which includes compensation for use of the unit and the Landlord's application costs. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by December 12, 2023, the Tenant will owe interest at 7% annually on the outstanding balance.
