What happened
The Tenants filed an application claiming the Landlord collected money illegally and substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit. The Landlord did not attend the hearing. The Board dismissed the claim for substantial interference but found that the Landlord failed to pay interest on the last month's rent deposit and ordered the Landlord to pay the owed amount to the Tenants.
The ruling
The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $50.62 for unpaid interest on the last month's rent deposit by April 20, 2025. The Tenants' T2 application alleging substantial interference by the Landlord is dismissed.
